The book I couldn't put down, my favorite baby carrier, our tv obsession...
... plus bestsellers and more!
Okay so usually these recap posts go out on Saturday but last week and this weekend just kept getting away from me… and who doesn’t like a little mid week check in?!
To be honest, I’m still figuring out how to juggle being a working mom, having a social life, trying to take care of myself… it’s a lot! Especially when it feels like the world is upside down.
I loved the way Emily explained how it feels like we’re living in two different timelines. In one of them, I’m obsessed with my sweet family and so grateful for this season of my life. And in another, families are literally being ripped apart by masked agents with no regard for due process and toddlers need to represent themselves in immigration court. What?!
For me, this situation goes so far beyond taking sides based on who is a republican or who is a democrat. Because yes, deportations aren’t anything new - but the way they’re happening right now is very different.
Regardless of the past, I don’t know how anyone - let alone a MOTHER - could watch what’s happening and not feel any empathy. So if the world has also felt heavy to you too, please know you’re not alone.
What I’m Reading: I hadn’t been able to stick to any books since Charlie was born… until I started The Favorites! It’s kind of like Wuthering Heights meets Daisy Jones - but it’s about competitive ice dancers. It was so so good.
What I Can’t Get Enough Of: I know I’ve been talking about this baby carrier a lot, but it really is THAT GOOD. Not only is it comfy and cute, but it’s easy for me to put on and take off by myself which is huge. Charlie was very happy in it at a street fest - I think he liked the headphones a little less though 🤣
Also, I’m still obsessed with my Brumate tumbler! The straw is soft on top but metal inside, and you can slide the top to “seal” and it becomes leakproof!
And lastly, I was recently gifted this ring and it is so beautiful - I can’t stop staring at it. It would make such a great gift for someone special, or just for yourself if you’re celebrating a milestone in your life!
What We’re Eating: A new What We Ate For Dinner Last Week went live yesterday! The reel is totally tanking but I promise, it’s a good lineup of recipes!! Any likes/views are always appreciated 😜 Also, let me know if you make the mango salsa!
What’s In My Cart: Charlie has been wearing a lot of overalls recently and I realized that THIS is the way we can have a mommy and me moment!!! I have this pair in my cart for me and this pair in my cart for little C. Stay tuned!
What I’m Watching: Even though we are already very invested in the new season of Love Island USA, I realized we never talked about Sirens or Top Chef!
If you haven’t watched Sirens, I definitely recommend - although I’m still not sure what I thought about it?! It’s one of those shows that captivated me in the moment because the actors are all so good and I never knew were the plot was going to go. But then once it was done, Adam and I looked at each other… did we actually like it?? 🤣
And after a very lackluster season of Top Chef last year, this season was delightful. Kristen really came into her own as the new host, and the contestants were all so talented. Two Chicago chefs were in the top 4! That’s pretty amazing!
I think I’ll save Love Island thoughts for this weekend… but feel free to comment with predictions about whats’s going to happen between Huda and Jeremiah because that sh*t is JUICY 🙊
Sale of the week: You can get up to 50% off Abercrombie dresses right now! I’ve been loving this red active dress and this blue one, especially since their built in shorts don’t connect in the back… in other words, bathroom breaks are way easier!
I also love that this dress has built in shorts and a built in bra, but it’s NOT an active material. It’s been a great way for me to feel pulled together without worrying about flashing anyone if I need to bend down to pick Charlie up.
And lastly, I wore this classic to a special lunch with Adam recently and I love how feminine it is. The strawberry print is too cute!!
You can peek at June’s Bestsellers so far here too!
