My sister-in-law sent me this substack a few weeks ago and I finally got around to reading it this week.
The post by
talks about a scarcity mindset and an abundance mindset… two things I flip flop between quite often.I think it’s partially because I have a lot of Enneagram 3 in me (I equate productivity/accomplishments with self-worth) combined with the fact that my job is always a little inconsistent. There will literally always be cycles of scarcity and abundance! It’s hard not to let my mindset follow suit!
I’ve also watched people make poor decisions based on what I judged as an inflated abundance mindset. Feels like cautionary tales to me.
But this piece did such a wonderful job of redefining these mindsets. Scarcity and abundance are less about money or spending, and more about how you view yourself and what you are capable of.
I especially loved the mantras she shared for overcoming a scarcity mindset. They were such beautiful reminders that abundance isn’t about keeping up with the Joneses.
Instead, it’s about surrounding yourself with people who will be there when you need them, building skills that can get you through difficult times, being resourceful and creative, and feeling content with what you have.
Aren’t those the most important things in life anyway?
I highly recommend giving the whole piece a read - let me know what you think!
Weekend Links:
The Sephora Sale began for Rouge members and will open up to VIB and Insiders on Tuesday! (Just log in to check your status or sign up for a free account to become an Insider) They only do sitewide sales twice a year, so this is the time to stock up on any makeup, skincare or haircare you need! You can read through all of my favorites here.
Yes, the Airwrap is included. You can see how I use it here.
Speaking of sales, Abercrombie is offering 15% off almost everything - including 2 new pairs of jeans I got and LOVE. I got this loose pair in the regular length so I can wear with heels (styled here and here) and then this cropped pair in the short length is perfect for everyday wear (styled here!). Highly recommend them both!
I want to go to this Ina Garten dinner party 🤩
As I mentioned in my March Recommendations, it took me a while to get into Magnolia Parks but I FLEW through Daisy Haites! I finished reading it a few days ago and have already started the 3rd book in the series. I’m IN IT.
I treated myself to a lash lift this week and I’m using this Typology Lash Serum to try to make the most of it. I love that it’s natural and doesn’t bother my eyes at all!
Loved this caption about women’s sports after the Iowa/LSU game. Who else is excited for Sunday?!
I’m calling it. This dress is going to be my most worn this summer. It’s like a nap dress but half the price and without the floofy sleeves and it’s PERFECT. I’ll share more this week but in the meantime, I got a small!
You all know I love my red light mask, but if you are looking for something more geared towards breakouts, Currentbody now makes an anti-acne LED pen!! I just got it and I’m already obsessed - each treatment is only 3 minutes and you can see it bringing the inflammation down on a pimple almost immediately.
My new favorite jean jacket is 25% off - you just have to enter your email to get the discount. It’s so soft and classic. I got a small!
Rod Tuffcurls playing Taylor Swift? Let’s gooooo!
Ever since I found these Airpod Max dupes last week, I’ve been seeing other options everywhere. These Beats headphones are more expensive (still less than Airpod Max!) but they’re on sale right now. Anyone own them?
